She always helped in and around the community in particular the Annapolis Hospital, catering to the Order of Eastern Star dinners and being of assistance whenever the need arose. Her home was known to all her many friends as "Hospitality Corner." She leaves to mourn her five lovely children, Kathleen, Clementsport; Raymond, Winnipeg; Wendy (Ray) Dempsey, Cambridge, Ont.; Lois (Allen) Grant, Winnipeg; Winston, Clementsport; as well as six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; brother, Fred (Anne) Balcomb, Middleton; sisters, Leota Pitman, Natick, Mass.; Ruth Swiber, Digby; Beatrice Campbell, Kelowna, B.C.; brother-in-law, Marc (Beryl) Potter, Toronto. Marion was predeceased by her husband, Cecil; sister, Helen; brothers, David and Creighton. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday in St. Edwards Anglican Church, Clementsport, Rev. Edwin Ebsary officiating. Interment will be in Old St. Edwards Anglican Church Cemetery beside her loving husband, Cecil. Please, no flowers by request. Death Notes: STRONG, Peter - 24, Dartmouth, passed away suddenly March 15, 2002. Dearly missed by friends and family, Peter was the son of Debbie (Reardon) Lawrence, Dartmouth and Wray Strong, Martins River and stepson of David Lawrence. Peter was raised in Dartmouth and graduated from Dartmouth High School in 1996 receiving a Gold "D" and the "Sportsman of the Year Award" in his senior year. Upon graduation he moved into retail sporting goods sales while also attending St. Mary's University. Peter's love of life was only exceeded by his passion for sport. He enjoyed soccer, curling, skiing, golf, badminton, cycling and a host of other sports and activities. Peter could often be found participating in, coaching, refereeing, organizing or watching sporting events, exhibitions and competitions locally and throughout the Maritimes. At a young age, Peter excelled as both an athlete and coach. Peter moved through the Dartmouth United Youth soccer programs to become a member of the SMU Men's Varsity soccer team and a Division 1 soccer player for both Cole Harbour and Forest Hills Soccer Clubs. He coached and ran development programs for Dartmouth United and Dunbrack Soccer Clubs and most recently was coaching for the Girls Regional Training Centre and Girls Keeper High Performance Training Centre in Halifax. At the time of his death, Peter was co-coaching with his stepfather, his sister's under 14 Tier 1 team. When not coaching or playing Peter worked at Play It Again Sports in Dartmouth and then at Cleve's, Spring Garden Road for five years. He also worked for the Gorsebrook Research Foundation and as Saint Mary's University Intramural Coordinator. Peter's love of sport was complemented by his personable nature. A genuine people person, Peter liked everyone and everyone liked him. He related well to his players as a coach and conveyed a sincere interest in his family, friends, teammates, customers and acquaintances He will be sorely missed by all. Besides his parents, Peter is survived by his sisters, Linda Strong and Janet Lawrence, both of Dartmouth as well as his grandparents, Joyce (Hollett) and Ken Reardon, Dartmouth and grandfather, Moston Strong, Scotch Village; many aunts and uncles and a host of younger cousins who reveled in their older cousin's love and attention. Peter also leaves behind his girlfriend and soulmate of four and a half years, Bonnie White, Stellarton. Peter was predeceased by his grandmother, Mrs. Ida May Strong and step-grandmother, Mrs. Janet Lawrence. Born in Halifax on October 30, 1944, he was a son of the late Senator Richard A. Donahoe and Mary Eileen (Boyd) Donahoe. Terry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lynne (Sheehan); daughter, Moira and her husband Jonathan Schrader; brother, Arthur (Carolyn); sisters, Cathleen Neidermayer, Sheila Donahoe (Michael Derwin), Nora (Walter) Strapps, Ellen (John) Feehan, and 12 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Maura (in infancy). Terry was educated at College Street School, St. Francis School, St. Mary's High School, and received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary's University in 1964. He graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1967. Terry practised law in Halifax and was a partner in the firm of Blois, Nickerson, Palmeter, and Bryson. He served for several years as solicitor to the Children's Aid Society of Halifax and State Advocate for the Knights of Columbus. Active politically from a young age, he ran in the Halifax mayoralty election in 1974. In 1978, he was elected MLA for Halifax Cornwallis and was re-elected in four subsequent elections. He held several portfolios in the governments of John Buchanan and Donald Cameron. Terry was proud of the rationalization of the school board structure in Nova Scotia which took place under his leadership during the seven years he was Minister of Education. Terry was equally proud of his role in establishing Nova Scotia's first Acadian school board. From 1993 to 1995 he served as Leader of the Opposition and Interim Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia. He contested the constituency of Halifax in the 1997 federal election. After leaving elected public office, Terry was active in several business ventures and continued his involvement in community organizations. He touched all who knew him with his warmth, wit and wisdom. He was giving of his time and energy, and among other organizations he served generously as a member of the board of the Parkinson's Society of Canada, the Board of Governors of Saint Mary's University and the Insurance Board of Canada. He was president of the Charitable Irish Society in 2003. Terry lived his faith in his service to others and was an active participant in both Saint Thomas Aquinas and Canadian Martyrs parishes, was a lay reader in both parishes and served on numerous parish committees. Terry was awarded an honorary degree by UniversitŽ Ste. Anne in 1985 and by Saint Mary's University in 2001. A lifelong avid golfer, Terry served as president of Ashburn Golf Club from 2001 to 2003. He served on many committees and most recently chaired the long-range planning committee. Visitation will be held Friday, December 2, 4-8 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in St. Mary's Basilica at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, Father Albert Cosgrove presiding. He was a five-year veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Carlton-York Regiment in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He was awarded the Volunteer Silver Medal, the 1939-45 Silver Medal, the Silver Defence Medal, the Italy Cross and the 1939-45 Cross. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and past member of Middleton Lions Club. He received a 30-year service medal from Nictaux Volunteer Fire Department. General Notes: Kathleen Coleman, married Harold Clarke, had a son, William Clarke. Divorced ...married Ivan Gould. We visited with Kaye, her mother, Jessie and Kaye's son, Bill and wife, Barbara in 2002. Had a wonderful time with them, and were invited to stay with them in their spacious, 3 story home, but already had a little cottage reserved in the area. Jessie's (age 97) mind was sharp as a tack. Bill and Kaye said she hadn't been so talkative and informative for quite some time, but when new relatives come to visit, there's a lot to talk about and she was so very gracious . We went through picture albums where I saw pictures of LeBaron W. Coleman, my Mother's (Daisy) father. He was a handsome man. Jessie told me that he had one short leg. Didn't seem to bother him any. When we visited, Bill would stop at Tim Horton's, a Canadian Coffee Chain, where we ate much of the time while there, and bring Kaye a "double double," which was a large coffee with double milk & double sugar. We always brought coffee and delicious muffins for all.

COLEMAN, Ronald Borden ""Ron"" - 72, Calgary, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2005, after a courageous battle with illness. Ron was born in Nova Scotia and lived his early years there. After graduating from Dalhousie University with degrees in commerce and law, he moved to Calgary in 1957. Ron was a senior executive with Home Oil Company for 20 years and then began a consulting career. He was a member of the Alberta Law Society, the Canadian Bar Association and was a founding director of the Petroleum Law Association of Canada. He was also president of the Independent Petroleum Association of Canada from 1978 to 1979, a director of many public corporations and served as chairman of the Calgary Hospice Foundation for many years. He was a member of the Ranchmans, Petroleum and Glencoe Clubs, as well as the Earl Grey Golf Club. Ron's favourite pastimes were playing golf and gin rummy with the ""Rat Pack"" and his many other friends. Ron is survived by his sons, Gary, Paul, and Cameron; granddaughter, Jenna; mother, Jesse; sister, Kaye; his dear friend, Coralee; as well as many nephews and nieces. Ron was predeceased by his father, L.B. ""Barry""; brothers, Jack, Gordon, and Bill. A private family graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 8, in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings Co. A reception will follow at the home of Ron's mother, 525 Main St., Kentville. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Jenna and her mother Susan Robbins, both of Brandon, Man.; brothers, Gary (Jodi) Coleman, Sherwood Park, Alta., and Cameron Sarofen and his mother, Coralee Sarofen, both of Calgary, Alta.; his grandmother, Jessie Coleman, Kentville; his stepfather, Bill Collins, Calgary, Alta.; several cousins. There will be no visitation by family request. A funeral service followed by a reception will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 14, in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Rev. John McNally officiating. Burial will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings Co. Donations in memory may be made to Calgary Hospice Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.

Fairclough - Victim 'gentle, caring' KENTVILLE — Paul Coleman, murdered last week in Kentville, should be remembered as a good person dedicated to family, his brother said Tuesday. "People should remember him as a very gentle, caring individual," Gary Coleman said in an interview. Gary and other family members have been arriving in Kentville over the past couple of days to make funeral arrangements for Paul, 51, who had spent the past two years caring for ill family members. Two years ago, he went to Calgary from his Ottawa home to care for his father, who died of cancer in July 2005. It was the senior Mr. Coleman's wish that someone look after his mother, living in Kentville and approaching 100 years of age. Paul then moved to the Valley town to look after his grandmother and oversee her care. "It was my father's wish that she should live in her own home," said Gary, who lives in Alberta. He said he worked with his brother to ensure she was looked after, and Paul came here to co-ordinate her care locally as long as she was able to stay in her home. Their grandmother moved out of the home in the past month, and Paul was expecting to go home to Ottawa, where he kept his apartment, at the end of December.
It was in Ottawa that Paul had bought houses with his father and converted them into apartments, which he then managed. He also managed properties for other people, his brother said. Paul enjoyed renovation work and was working on his own apartment, Gary said. The funeral service is being held Thursday. Gary said the family won't be talking to the media and doesn't like the idea of seeing cameras everywhere. "The family is looking for personal and private time to mourn their loss, and we would appreciate if that was respected," he said.
Their cousin, William Harold Clarke, 61, was charged with first-degree murder after Paul Coleman was shot inside Mr. Clarke's home on Webster Court on Dec. 7. Gary said the family is not discussing the case at all and is letting police do their job in the investigation.

General Notes: As did his brothers, he too had a nickname; "Pete". After graduation from 8th grade Clyde's father arranged a job for him as a hired man for Kyle Melendy, who was married to Nena Mae Groharing, and farmed just east of Thomson on the Argo Fay road. As the oldest boy in the family, and possessing the large Groharing frame, he was an ideal candidate for that kind of work. It was a chance for a little extra family income, and one less mouth to feed at the Groharing household. After he worked for a few weeks, Melenday insisted that he return to school in the fall for at least one more year. He was taught to drive the car so he could get to school and back quickly, and still keep up his chores and responsibilities. This he did, and so finished his first, (and last), year of high school. Clyde never forgot this kindness.
A few years later, he worked for his uncle Fred Groharing in Morrison, where he learned the plastering, bricklaying, and cement finishing trades. At that time Fred and his brother Louis were in the construction business together. He always spoke fondly of his Aunt Eva who he proclaimed a wonderful cook and "second mother". After Fred's death he went into business for himself at Morrison in1931. This was during the "Great Depression", and it was a trying time for he and Hallie, who he had married in 1928.
During WW II, because of the shortage of building materials for small contractors, he worked as a "plaster inspector" for a large construction company building worker's housing at Oak Ridge, TN - where the first atom bomb was built. He returned from Tennessee at the end of the WW II and resumed his business, Groharing Mason Contractors, which thrived during the post war construction boom.
His son Richard joined him in the construction business in 1958. Clyde worked until 1973 when he died of a sudden heart attack early one morning at his office desk. Respected by all who he dealt with in business for his construction knowledge and ethics, he often said "Never build anything that you would be ashamed to drive by later".
He was a long time member of the Morrison Lions Club and enjoyed working on their many civic activities. An avid outdoors man, he enjoyed both hunting and fishing all his life. During his later years, he spent several weeks each winter in the Florida Keys at Marathon, where he loved to "deep sea" fish with Harry Stringfellow, a friend from Madison, WI. His greatest fishing thrill was in February of 1967 when he caught a 6' - 11" long Sailfish off Marathon Shores, Florida. Though the Sailfish was to be mounted and displayed at his office for many years, he often tagged fish for release, and tracking.
