In the 1881 Canadian Census Berwick, Kings County, Rubric age 1,is listed with
the Charles Norwood family.
In the 1891 Canadian Census Township of Clarence ( later Lawrencetown) age 11.
In the 1900 US Census living at 20 Lincoln St Hudson Mass at the home of Thomas
Pollard. Listed as nephew. Immigrated to US in 1899. Occupation- Student.
According to Rev. John Balcom, Rubric was attending Bryant Stratton in Boston.
According to the 1920 census, lived at 120 Grampian Way, Boston. Occ Sales
manager, sandpaper. Mother in Law, Grace J. (MacDonald) Sabean also living
there.
Moved to Quincy (124 Greenleaf St.) in 1920. The 1910 census does not list a
number 124 on Greenleaf St. House probably built after 1910.
Second Marriage to Evangeline (St. Leger) Tong abt 1955 and lived in Braintree
at 155 Cedar St.
Founded Abrasive Products Inc., So. Braintree, Mass. The
company was financed with $25,000.00 that he won in an "illegal" numbers game.
During WW II the Abrasive Products needed garnets for sandpaper and emery
wheels. The governmant rationed them so he hired two prospectors that found a
garnet mine. He went to President Roosevelt and told him he would let the
government have his "surplus". (From Davis Bates, grandson).
