NICHOLSVILLE
By Erin Ward 2-W age 7 of Nicholsville
Nicholsville is a small community south of Aylesford. It was started in
1797. It got its name from the large number of Nichols families that lived
here. In the beginning it was called Nichols Settlement. There are about
200 people living here. Nicholsville is mostly a farming community, there
are a number of other businesses a bed and breakfast, Seven Oaks Catering
owned by Earl and Peggy Lindsay, and a U-Fish and Fish Farm owned by the
Rowe family.
The main center is now the old school which closed in 1965 when the
students were bussed to St. Mary's in Aylesford. The old school serves
as the Community Center where Brownies, Guides, Beavers and 4-H have operated
for the children of the community. It is often the site of community fairs,
card playing and socials.
