The Millville community was formed when some of the first land grants were made in 1783. The permanent settlement started around 1810. It was originally called Waterville.
One of the first homes in millville was a log house built near the property owned today by Claude Palmer. Maurice Keddy's home in Millville is also among the oldest in the community it was built in the year 1830. The community changed its name from Waterville to Millville in 1873 because there was another community called Waterville nearby. The new name was chosen because there were two large mills operating in the community. The two mills mentioned above were a grist mill and a saw mill. Both mills were run by water and a dam was built nearby.
The two storey schoolhouse was opened in 1865. In 1913 there were 52 students with only one teacher. The school was also used for community meetings, local gatherings as well as church services. The school closed in 1965 with the opening of St. Mary's Elementary in Aylesford.
Today there are still a few businesses and farms located in Millville. There is also a restaurant due to open in the spring of 1996. It will be operated by the Hebb family. One farm operating is no ordinary farm, it is Oaklawn Zoo owned by the Rogerson family. Bob VandeudeKom, Jordan's dad operates a portable sawmill.
