The community of Auburn is located 3Km. west of Aylesford. At one time Auburn was part of Aylesford, then it became known as Morden Siding then to its present name of Auburn. The name may have come from a local girl with auburn colored hair. Auburn was once a very busy trading center because it was the location of the nearest Customs and railway stop.

St. Mary's Anglican church is located at the intersection of highway #1 and Morden Road. It was built in 1790 and many stories tell of its' construction. The nails were carried by soldiers on foot from Halifax each carrying a 50 pound pack. The plans for its construction were found in one of the balls atop the church steeple when it was under repair it was copied and then replaced. No one knows who made the stained glass window of Mary and Baby Jesus. The biggest mystery is the old leather boot with wooden pegs that was found around the church stairway when they were repairing it. People think it has been there since the church was built. Was it left there by accident? or ..... on purpose?

There are 300 to 325 people living in the area today. Some of the businesses located in Auburn are a corner store with a Post Office, 2 ice cream shops, a gas station, used car lot, a craft shop, muffler shop, well drilling, hair dressing, a u-fish and Holland Contracting.

The local school was also called St. Mary's and when it closed in 1965 the students were transferred to Aylesford's new school "St. Mary's Elementary".
