NORTH COUNTRY CHEVIOT RAM LAMB & EWE |
The North Country Cheviot is one of the largest hill sheep. It is a very hardy, rugged sheep, which means they can usually thrive in poor conditions which other breeds of sheep might find difficult. North Country Cheviot sheep have white hair covering their head and legs and medium length white wool. They have a roman nose and their ears are large and held up-right which make them look very alert. The North Country Cheviot is not a particularly tall sheep. They cross well with other breeds and often have twins. Although the North Country Cheviot's tend to have very strong mothering instincts, they are actually a meat breed of sheep. We have quite a few North Country Cheviots on our sheep farm.
The reason why the N.C.C is one of our favorite breeds of sheep is because of its hardiness and the lambs tend to be very vigorous at birth.
