Young Katahdin ewe with her lamb
Katahdins are known as the "hair sheep". They only have a small amount of wool covering their bodies which is shed each spring so there is no need to shear them. And then they have a hair covering over their bodies during the summer. They are a meat breed of sheep. We have started a small flock of Katahdins on our farm. We have 9 ewes so far.
